Colorado EarthRenew Inc. is planning to construct an organic fertilizer plant at the Diamond Feeders LLC cattle feedlot in Eaton. The two-phase project scope includes design and construction of building space; fabrication and erection of storage tanks and bins; and purchase and installation of manure handling, screening, conveying, drying, additive blending, granulation, pelletizing, bagging and emissions control equipment as well as a natural gas-fired turbine and generator set. The plant will have the capacity to produce more than 40,000 metric tons of organic fertilizer pellets per year and generate 4 MW of electric power. The plant will utilize EarthRenew’s proprietary thermal processing technology. Construction is expected to begin in late 2021. The estimated EPC cost is $25 million. Kansas Corn Board Manufacturing Inc. is planning to construct a building materials manufacturing plant in Hutchinson. The project scope includes construction of a building and purchase and installation of conveyors, resin storage tanks and sifting, sorting, pressing and dust collection equipment. The plant will have the capacity to process 50,000 bales of corn stover per year to produce panels for use as building materials and shipping pallets. McMahon Associates Inc. has been selected to provide design services, and C.D. Smith Construction has been selected as general contractor. Construction is expected to begin in 2022 or 2023. North Carolina Cardinal Foods LLC is planning to expand its fruit and vegetable processing and distribution facility at the Pender Industrial Park in Burgaw. The project scope includes construction of 56,000 sq ft of building space and purchase and installation of raw material receiving and storage equipment, stainless steel tanks, piping and conveyors as well as cutting, pureeing, frying and packaging equipment. Project implementation will be phased through 2023. The expansion will increase the facility’s capacity to process blueberries, butternut squash and sweet potatoes for the retail, restaurant and food service industries.
