Pittsburgh International Airport Terminal Tops Out
Pittsburgh International Airport’s $1.4-billion modernization project has exceeded 40% completion, nearing the halfway mark since placing the last steel beam on the terminal roof May 4. Construction began in October 2021 and is scheduled for completion in 2025. Since the completion of foundation work, construction is also underway on a 5,000-space parking garage and new airport roadway system, in addition to a connector bridge that will link the new terminal to the existing airside terminal, airport officials said in a statement. Designed by joint venture Gensler + HDR along with luis vidal + architects, the airport is targeting at least LEED Silver certification for its sustainable design.
